As a discipline, astrobiology is founded on the premise that life may exist beyond Earth. Archaeology is the study of human activity through the recovery and analysis of material culture. The archaeological record consists of artifacts, architecture, biofacts or ecofacts, sites, and cultural landscapes. Maritime Archaeology is the scientifically based study of past human life, behaviors and cultures and their activities in, on, around and under the sea, estuaries and rivers.
